This was genuinely one of the worst experiences with any Healthcare provider's office I've ever had. My insurance was not charged on my bill despite the fact that they did cover the service. Every time I'd call and ask about it, they'd say they would send an inquiry to my insurance and get back to me when there was an update. Not only did they never get back to me, but I had to finally call my insurance directly only to find out that they HAD agreed to pay the claim the first time it was billed. I let family counseling center know of this phone call, and tried to get a meeting with the billing manager but was told I couldn't. Things only changed when I asked my insurance to call them directly.
And yet, somehow my bill got messed up AGAIN. They suddenly charged me for appointments that had previously been of no charge due to meeting my out-of-pocket by that point in the year, and when I asked about it they said that the insurance "Asked them to pay back the charges" I called my insurance, of course, only to find out that wasn't the case, and there was still no reason for me to have been charged. If I did my math right, I was charged $146.36 extra than I was meant to have been charged. And it took more than TWO years for it to be resolved.
On top of that, the people "helping" me were acting like fixing their mistake was more of an inconvenience than my getting overcharged. At one point being told "Well, it's only an extra 100 dollars" Calls were never returned, emails were never sent, and every time they promised to do something like that it was like pulling teeth for it to actually get done. I'm not the type to complain about people just trying to do their job and maybe being a little rude while they do it, but two years of this treatment is a little much
The only point that any progress was actually made was when I talked to a much kinder receptionist named Charlie. Only after his help was my issue actually resolved.
I would only recommend this place to my worst enemy.

There are some Very Excellent therapists here. S/O Nathan Jacquez!
However I've been trying to get my 10 yr/o in since June!!! And NOT one front desk person has returned my numerous calls or messages or even after I sent anemail to a staff member. If you need help immediately DO NOT SEEK IT HERE! Completely disheartened by their lack of compassion, care, and complete lack of professional conduct.

My daughter and I attended therapy here for many months and the staff was always incredibly friendly and attentive. Yvette is a sweetheart. We worked with Rob and Alex and they made sure to make us feel taken care of and that our questions and concerns were addressed each step of the way. Unfortunately with an insurance change and other schedule conflicts, I was unable to continue attending, but we made a ton of progress and I'm thankful for them and what they've done for our family.
Alex is great with kids while still able to have direct and professional conversations with parents about progress and treatment plans. Rob was great to work with as well. He is a genuine person and made therapy a very comfortable experience. I felt like I was venting to a friend who happened to be a professional and could point things out that I might overlook and help me grow through breathing techniques and grounding exercises as well as figuring out solutions and helping me apply those solutions on my own in between sessions. I would recommend these people to anyone and hope to be able to return and continue to improve and grow as a person and a parent.

I called to make a new patient appointment for my son and the receptionist, Sherri, was extremely judgmental and lacked in knowledge of basic scheduling laws and HIPPA regulations.. She would not allow me to make his appointment. I have never been told that I cannot make an apt for another adult person before? I will advise my son to find a more welcoming clinic and I would suggest anyone else to do the same.

As a professional in Salt Lake County, I have found the Family Counseling Center readily available and happy to help those in need of mental health services. Though I have not personally used their counseling services, I feel confident in recommending the friendly staff and the great work they do!

Though this center has a few excellent therapists (the reason I am not giving it a one-star review), the administrative staff is HORRIBLE. I recommend you go elsewhere if you value your time and want to be treated respectfully.

ATTENTION SHERRI. Maybe you should read up...

“HIPAA only governs how healthcare 'covered entities' (i.e. providers and payers) may share and release information - it does not regulate such things as whether or not an individual can make an appointment for someone else. The law gives healthcare providers a reasonable amount of latitude for the limited disclosures that take place in situations like this as long as reasonable safeguards are in place to protect the patient's privacy”
