Still here by the Grace of God. I don’t walk on water, and no HALO over my head, all Good. I came out the gutter like down and out in Beverly Hills. I came a long ways, BLESSED! Live alone (okay) Lost my cousin Elizabeth Torres in 2018 hit by METRO LINK TRAIN in SAUGUS. She didn’t do drugs no alcoholic, she had a double whammy schizophrenia and major depression and stop taking medication. LET THIS SINK IN MY COUSIN HIT BY BIG METRO LINK TRAIN AND NO INTOXICATION AT ALL NONE AS SHE BEING RIP, TORN, CUT APART IN PIECES, ELIZABETH WAS VERY BEAUTIFUL. However other life pass events was at work on her. So Yea I’m grateful for Downtown Mental Health save my life Thank God. I go to Long Beach Mental Health now, I live in Long Beach.

First went to Los Angeles Downtown Mental Health November 2008, save my life no complaints, had to transfer to Long Beach Mental Health, had moved to Long Beach California in January 2017. I'm Bless.. Miss everyone, ALL Great. Also God is good survive fatal accident on ---------- April 07, 2023 on 45th Street & Atlantic Avenue, Long Beach, California. My Car My Baby Silver Cadi didn't survive, but I did with injuries, plus guy who hit my car and vehicle behind me was Insure?. We were parked, and got hit. The guy park behind me didn't survive.

Updated review as of today Thursday November 17th 2022 if I could give a negative star I would definitely give it negative.
A therapist Angelina broke and breeched confidentiality rights as I was waiting to be seen a client expressed she didn't want to talk she wanted to talk to her therapist at a different time I think it was her parent with her who seemed to be forcing her to see the therapist..not aggressively but the girl seemed like she wasn't comfortable with the person who I assume is her parent to be present and I'm guessing that's why she wanted to talk to her therapist at a different time. I feel a therapist should be able to recognize these cues or red flags.
Another client was coming out of a session he seemed to be uncomfortable the therapist guy was yelling at him telling him to never come back ever and was being very disrespectful to the client. It made me feel very uncomfortable.
I ended my services today with this clinic due to confidential rights being violated I asked to sign the document that I signed apon starting services to revoke the right to bill my insurance and to revoke the agreement to services and communication etc. Which the document states I can revoke it at any time. I was refused those documents, they tried to have me right legal information etc on a blank piece of paper. I stated I'm not going to right that. That's not a legal paper. I'm not signing or writing what he is telling me to write. The man (he said his name is Mario) (I asked for his name) then was very rude to me and I felt he was hostile.

Review; Recently my most updated in person visit to The downtown mental health center The building was clean, pleasant, well organized, they had helpful recourses for showers outside of the building etc. Scheduling was pleasant a little confusing although the lady explaining insurance was helpful. Security was attentive. I did call over the phone to confirm an appointment I feel the lady a little unpleasant but oh well, she at least was able to assist me with direction to how to go about getting what I needed. I will say they have a long scheduling list but it's also based on referral needs and I wasn't referred as needed emergent care.

Original review; Not sanitary outside of building, employees are rude , I called to set up an appointment reception seemed to be closed minded I felt she was hostile in her attitude as well as she started to argue with me when I was asking a question and she hung up on me, Therapy isn't the easiest to do and then the attitude the receptionist gives out to people definitely makes trying to do services even harder. I don't even feel comfortable while trying setting up an appointment.

Incredibly rude and unhelpful staff. Staff seems very upset to answere any Qs, if they do decide to assist you expect to be lectured about why you don't know the answer or be spoken to rudely. Even the psychologist are odd, I guess staff is used to extreme people & cases so in my personal experience, the psychologist kept reiterating how they help people who "need it most, like the homeless" completely understandable but it became very upsetting to explain a trauma or answere a question and be told "at least it wasn't..." or "ohhhh but it's wasn't ____," the entire clinic is very unprofessional, it doesn't help that the interior is filthy and SMELLY because no one sanitizes or cleans after homeless patients.

So I show up for an appointment here at Maple DMH , I fill out the green slip ( verifies in person arrival) at reception window, waited 2hrs only to find out the person I'm there to see called out , I go to the front reception window also found out I was not entered I'm the data base or on roll call chart/ sheet as" arrived I'm person". And I'm nowhere in the data base as being there physically on a same day appointment. I get a call back the next day wile I'm at another appointment from the "therapist/Dr " Miss Novack and she called during a crucial appointment with another department. I had to put her on hold to answer the outher line with yet another DMH rep. From the same office that was trying to get me scheduled for a different day. Wile Miss Novack was on the outher line.
I can't trust this office. This happens a lot I the inner city Los Angeles Mental health services.. and is not confined to DMH solely Amanacer Mental health services on Wilshire also has similar problematic communicative gaps in thire client relations. In tern placing the blame on thire clients. As "No Shows" or " incompliance" ... Oh BTW don't bother trying to file a grievance with Los Angeles health care services... You'll get no help from them as this organization implemented the same type attitudes with clients and dismisses all concern's and accounts ( in a more than timely manner). TRUST factor Zero.

My therapist Lisa was wonderful! She gave me all the resource info necessary to keep my head on straight and talked to me like she actually cared about my well-being. Loved her talk therapy.

I have been a client of Department of Mental Health from 2017. Each location has something to offer.

At Downtown Mental Health. This location is amazing for addicts. Addict does not only mean drugs or liquor.

Their are many types of addicts and this place helps you realize it. Just be honest with the intake person.

The homeless people are very nice and friendly please do not judge them and enter Downtown Mental Health for its service.

Great place to get help for depression. The supervisors are so caring at this location. The front desk will go out of their way to help you.

The groups are very educational.

If you need housing resources you would have better luck with 211/Google versus dealing with housing navigator Carole.
