Maddy C was the most wonderful, kind, and supportive salesperson I've ever had the pleasure of working with. She was such an attentive listener - knowing when to interject, but also when to step back and give me the space I needed to think things through. I never felt pressure to buy - every salesperson I interacted with (including the manager) was only kind. Their focus was giving me the experience of being a bride rather than trying to sell me a dress. Booking an appointment was quick and easy, David's Bridal made it feel like a big deal - well coordinated and very organized. Would highly recommend!

I am in my best friend’s out of town wedding this weekend and a few months after buying my bridesmaids dress earlier this year, I found out I was pregnant.

I loved my dress so much and didn’t want to pick a different one that would better accommodate the future belly, so instead I ordered it in a larger size and started looking around for someone who could hopefully alter it for me in order to help it fit better.

I originally took it to a local lady who ran her own seamstress company and told her what I wanted to have done. She was up front and honest in telling me that it was too big of an alteration, would take too long to do, and would cost me too much money. I respected and appreciated her for her honesty.

Time was running out and I knew I needed to get on it asap. One of the other girls in the bridal party told me that her David’s location (Mississauga) said it’s something their alterations department could definitely do if I wanted to take it to my location (Hamilton).

I initially had it assessed and was told it was doable and they got working on the first set of alterations which was hemming the length, shortening the shoulder straps in order to bring the neck line up, and bringing the cinched waist line up below my bust as it was putting pressure on the top of my belly where it was originally sitting. These 3 alternations cost me over $300.

When I came back to try it on, the length was good but the neckline was crooked (they shortened one shoulder more than the other), and the waist line had been moved up but it was not a clean job. I assumed they’d cut out the material in between or something but it looks like it was just scrunched up with their hands, folded over and stitched like that. It was not smooth, nor was it straight.

I did mention to them the crooked neckline and they did say they would fix it free of cost since I already paid to have this done the last time but I didn’t bother saying anything about the waistline as I also had a beaded belt I was waiting for them to stitch on at the end. The lady had asked me at this appointment if I wanted the beaded belt put over the waistline or below it and I said over it (to hide the unevenness of the stitching job, which is why I didn’t bother mentioning it). They also opened the zipper at the back of my dress about an inch or so to give my belly more room, this part of the alteration was okay. This second alteration appointment cost me over another $100 for the belt to be added and for the zipper to be opened up.

Upon going back to pick up my dress today after all had been done and “fixed”, the neckline was still crooked. I mentioned this to the girl who agreed, and suggested that I just pull down on that side of the dress to straighten it out. I said that’s a temporary fix seeing as it wont stay like that, that’s not how/where the dress sits.

The beaded belt looks like a blind person sewed it on as it’s loosely done, wonky in some areas (not flush to the dress), and again, not straight. I think the girl could tell I wasn’t impressed cause she asked if I was happy with it to which I said “Well it is what it is, I leave tomorrow for the wedding so there’s no time to fix it now”. She proceeded to say “Ohh okay, so no questions or concerns then?”, I said it’s fine.

I’m not sure what else I was to do at that point as I am now stuck with a dress that I once loved, but now hate with a wedding in less than 48hrs. I am SO incredibly disappointed with the alterations department at this location. My once $130 dress, turned into an over $500 dress, WHICH I do not mind paying, for a flawless job. But to charge that much for such poor work is absolutely insane to me. Especially considering how big of a company this is. I thank God that this wasn’t my own wedding dress! If you can’t do the job well, at least have the decency to say you can’t do it (like the first lady did), instead of charging an arm and a leg for a butcher job. I highly recommend going elsewhere for important alterations. First pic before alterations. Pics with beaded belt are finished product.

I am so sorry that I forget the name of the sales person that I was dealing with because the staff was amazing. They brought me many different things to try on, keeping in mind my comfort level and style choices. For each dress that was brought out I was asked what I did and didn't like so that we could hone in on what would be best for my dress. It ended up being the first dress I put on, but no one rushed me or made me feel like I was wasting their time while I figured out that love at first sight for my wedding dress could happen.

I had my dress "searching" here on Saturday, which turned into dress "finding" which turned into a big huge YES TO THE DRESS with a bell to ring!!?Oh how lovely it was, really got my wedding gears into action imagining myself walking down the aisle in my dress of choice. And I may have even she'd a few happy tears ?behind the cameras..

Olivia, who helped me through the entire thing was more than exceptional. She was fantastic! As I was trying on dresses she would come to my fitting room with several more in hand along with others which were the styles and cuts and shapes outllining exactly what I was looking for. She was so helpful in making everything run smoothly, all the while was just so cheerful and kind, and really made me start to feel like a bride. So, thank you Olivia for all of your help! I couldn't have done it without you, nor have wanted anyone other than you!

My experience at David’s Bridal was above and beyond. Firstly I met with Emily, she was extremely helpful and kind with helping me find what I liked about my to be bridal gown. Then I met with Liv, she was incredibly sweet and patient with me helping me try on gowns to where I said YES to the dress. Lastly, Cristina was beyond kind as well. It was a fantastic day!
